CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 31-year-old woman reported that a man she didn’t know groped her at Progressive Field during the final game of the Indians season.
A 63-year-old Parma Heights man, who police noted bragged he drank a bottle and a half of chardonnay during the game, was identified as a suspect, but has not yet been charged, according to a police report released by the city on Friday.
The incident happened about 3 p.m. Monday during the Indians 11-3 loss to the Houston Astros in Game 3 of the American League Divisional Series.
The woman told police she was standing in line waiting to use the restrooms near section 174 behind the stands along the left field, police reports say.
The woman said a man walked up behind her, groped her and said “Is this the men’s or women’s line?” according to police reports.
The man left and the woman reported the incident to officers working secondary employment at the ballpark. Security officers obtained video and a still photo of the man and gave them to the officers scouring the park.
An officer outside the stadium said he spotted the man, according to police reports. Officers noted that he appeared intoxicated and that he was bragging about how much alcohol he drank during the game, according to police reports.
Police did not arrest the man. Sex crimes detectives were tasked with investigating the incident and Progressive Field security saved the video of the incident for investigators, police reports say.
