Here’s how trading Edwin Encarnacion sets up the Cleveland Indians’ next big move (podcast)

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Indians have already made one major trade this offseason and nobody thinks Tribe executives are finished.

Edwin Encarnacion was shipped to Seattle on Thursday and Yandy Diaz sent to Tampa Bay in the first of what is almost certain to be multiple big trades aimed at streamlining the team’s payroll.

Fan favorite Carlos Santana is coming back to the club from Seattle, where he was traded earlier in the offseason after signing there as a free agent one year ago. Jake Bauers, a promising young hitter from Tampa Bay is also in the mix.

But what does moving Encarnacion set up for president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti and general manager Mike Chernoff? Will Corey Kluber, Trevor Bauer or Yonder Alonso be the next to go?

In this week’s podcast, Paul Hoynes and Joe Noga look back at what Edwin brought to the Indians during his two years in Cleveland. Hoynsie also breaks down his week at the MLB Winter Meetings in Las Vegas and talks a little Hall of Fame following the elections of Lee Smith and Harold Baines.
