CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians on Thursday announced they completed a three-team trade with Seattle and Tampa Bay.
The Indians also acquired cash considerations from the Mariners in exchange for Edwin Encarnacion and the club’s 2019 Competitive Balance Round B First-Year Player Draft selection (77th overall).
The Tribe also acquired Jake Bauers from the Rays in exchange for Yandy Diaz and a player to be named later.
Jon Heyman with the MLB Network, who was first to report the trade, tweeted that Santana is said to be “thrilled” to return to Cleveland where he never sold his home.
Santana was part of the 2016 team that made the World Series run, but signed with the Phillies at the end of last year, then went to the Mariners.
